You may remember seeing this photograph a while ago

It is shown hanging on the line to dry after dyeing and was very quickly sold. This morning I had a lovely email with a link to this blog. It was my lovely friend Pam that bought the skein, and I just love the way she has used it. Pop over and take a look. There is more information about the scarf in her Etsy shop which is also worth a visit. Incidently, part of it is one of the images that I chose for one of the changing images at the top of this blog.

I’m continuing to add to my Etsy shop. There will be more later today. Each dyed item is unique – there is only one and I won’t be dyeing another like it. Previously I have added a few repeatable collections, from now on that will cease – everything will be a one off!

It’s only just over a week away – but there is still time for a couple more enrolments on the Busy Bees dyeing course. Based in Newport, S Wales, Busy Bees Patchwork are recovering from a devastating fire in which everything was lost. They are now in the process of preparing to open in new premises, and I’m delighted to be able to support them in this endeavour. I wrote a little bit about the course here, too.  For speed contact them by email – details on this page. I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone down there – and to hearing news of the re-opening. As usual we will have a few bits and pieces with us – some of our machine threads, the chiffon scarves and, of course, some of our hand dyed items.

Sometimes….

…. you just have to eat humble pie and admit that you were wrong!

I was totally wrong. Instead of unloading in the rain, as I had predicted, the redshirts were there to help me do it in warm, glowing sunshine! Above is the view from the studio once it was all set up, but before the students arrived. It was glorious. I had visions of us sitting outside and having our theory discussions in glorious sunshine. Sadly that didn’t happen, but at least the start and finish was sunny. The two lower windows to the left of the above shot were those of my bedroom, and from there I had these secluded views.

Having said that, I didn’t see much of the view in daylight as I was too busy teaching. We had a very industious few days, and dyed some really beautiful colours.

The next dyeing workshop (and the very last public one for this year) is at Busy Bees in Newport on 14th June. Some of you may not know that Busy Bees had an horrendous fire earlier this year, but, despite losing all stock at that time, they have limped on and I’m looking forward to supporting them when we visit. Why not come along and join us? Amongst other things we’ll be dyeing a tee-shirt – but maybe not in the way you expect! Another busy weekend

Just a few samples produced during the dyeing day at Busy Bees in Newport yesterday. These were the demonstration samples and all the students produced their own variations of these colours…… and lots more. I’ll be returning there next year to teach another technique. Watch out for their new brochure – this year’s class sold out really quickly.
