Quickly dashing through…..

This year has started with a bang, and I’m already struggling to keep up. It wasn’t meant to be like that – but sometimes life is unpredictable. No complaints, but I have to go out in a very short while. As I mentioned in the last post I am sorting through and passing on some bargains. The vegetarian silk has now gone, and as this is such a specialised product you may wonder why I’ve offered it. Well, today I’m offering some felt – and it’s for the same reason. Both these products are specially made for me. As a result I have to order them in HUGE quantities. Think of the largest number you can accommodate – and then double it. Yes, I really do have to order that much. So, in order to safely and easily store it all I have to make roon. Delivery is soon – so today there are some special felt offers, and others too.

The felt is viscose. No, it doesn’t burn. Yes, it is soft. Yes, it is easy to stitch into. Yes, you can use it with great success on the embellisher. I’ve used it for many purposes and so have those of you that know and love it. It normally retails at £3.50 a piece. The next order is more expensive so there is a possibility of a price increase, but I’ll let you know about that if it happens. In the meantime I’m offering 5 at half price – that’s £8.75 plus postage. Clicking any of the live links on this page, or the photographs, will take you through to the offers. If you subscribe to the Creative Diary too you will save on postage.

I also have a few packs of lovely ceramic beads. These have many uses and I’ve taught workshops that included them in tassels, fringes, ‘jewellery’ of course, and also just as additions to stitching. The packs are £6.00 plus postage – you will see that you can also buy a mix of everything here.

Stocks of these are very limited, so it’s first come, first served. There are approx 100 beads in a pack and the selection is varied.

All offers are our choice of colour and the felt will be a selection of colours. They will be posted at the end of the week, but don’t leave it until the last minute as they will run out! Oh, yes, and I’ll include a thread/yarn of some sort or another with the felt – it might be a mix like the one in the picture above. Incidently, the ‘arty’ pictures I’ve used here are of a couple of the quick warm up exercises I’m doing each day. I’ve talked more about them in the Creative Diary. If you haven’t found them yet there are occasional pictures here, but with no information.

Now I have to dash off, all the previous orders are already on their way – we battled through wind and rain to get them to you. Hope you are all managing to stay dry, thankfully we are.

A good start to the New Year.

I don’t know what the weather is like with you – here it is currently extremely dark and dingy. More like a late November day than the beginning of January. The rain has just started pouring – heavily and insistently. The forecast isn’t too bad here, and hopefully you will all escape the worst of it. Stay safe, wherever you are.

It isn’t too late to sign up to follow me through the year. I wrote a little about it here, but you can sign up at any point during the year. I know we are only a couple of days into the New Year, but so far I have been able to keep my schedule going. I’m starting the day with a rapid ‘design’ exercise and then later adding some drawing and stitching into the mix. I’ve had to start slowly, but as the year progresses and things get back to normal there will be more intensity. If you would like to follow the full story you can do so via this link. There will be details of my creative enterprises and also the occasional tutorial etc. The intention is to inspire you throughout the year, and I have already heard from one person that something has inspired a quick card. I hope you will decide to join me,  the more of you there are the more accountable I will be – and hopefully I will meet all my deadlines. As I also mentioned, the odd photograph will appear here, but there will be no details of what it is all about – just a picture.

As I briefly mentioned, I’m looking forward to 2014. We have new plans for the ‘shop’ which will unfold during the coming year, but now I need to make way for new stock, so here is the start of some very special offers. These are not ‘clearance’ or ‘special purchase’ offerings – but items that I currently don’t have time to package. They are also items that will continue in our range unless I otherwise comment.

Fabric/Thread Bonus Pack

Although they are all Sassa Lynne hand-dyed items I really don’t have time to package them at the moment – so this first collection will include:

2 pieces of vegetarian silk – normally £5.00 each = £10.00

1 piece of very fine scrim – normally £2.50

1 miscellaneous hand-dyed Sassa Lynne thread – normally £2.50

The value is therefore £15.00 but a limited quantity is available for just £5.95 plus £4.95 postage. If you also join the creative diary your postage for one package will be refunded in full making it an even better bargain.

The picture just shows some of the colours available. We will send our choice of colour combination and the quantity is limited although there is more than shown in the photograph. Once they have gone – that’s it, new stock will be dyed – but sold packaged and at full price! You can have more than one if you want, but you will be charged for postage with each paypal payment. Part of the multiple postage charges will be refunded depending on how many you buy. Click the picture or this link to buy.

Vegetarian silk is a very popular fabric. It is very soft and wonderful either as an upper stitching surface or for the embellisher. Isobel Hall uses it for vessels too. I will definitely be using it during the year – and more ideas for its use will appear then for subscribers to the Creative Diary.

There will be more offers over the next while. Watch this space.

Tired, but happy.

I’ve just returned from a lovely weekend in the country.

On Friday we travelled to the depths of the Sussex countryside to take part in the JustHandsOnTV weekend at Dunford House near Midhurst. I joined Jennie Rayment, Wendy Gardiner and Valerie Nesbitt and a number of enthusiastic students. Delicious food, beautiful scenery and lots of cheerful chatting and stitching/embellishing. Yes, you’ve guessed, I was teaching the embellisher.

We began with a sampler:

Here you see part of a work in progress. We covered six different techniques within the sampler, some of which were taken further over the rest of the weekend. Jennie and Val both taught quilting techniques, and it’s fair to say that all students worked hard and went home with some beautiful creations. Incidently, I’ll be writing more about other aspects of the Dunford weekend here over the next few days.

My next Embellisher weekend will be held in the West Country at Mad Hatters Studio, near Plymouth.  Many of you have asked for a workshop in that area, so now is your chance to contact Sheron and book.

I’d also like to share that I’m raising money for the Alzheimers Society during the month of June. It’s a ‘no lose’ situation! I’m making a card a day using some of my special hand dyed paper and you can have one for a donation of £5.00. The link will take you through to the donation page – and all proceeds go to the charity, I’m not even charging postage to send you your card. You can see all the ones made so far linked from here, although I have actually made more than you can see, so you can make a ‘pot luck’ choice too if you wish. Just make sure that I have some contact details so that I can obtain your address. There is a box to tick to allow JustGiving to send me your email address. Thanks so much to those that have already donated, I have reached my initial target, but am continuing to fund raise as it is such a worthwhile cause.

Now I have to begin preparation for the dyeing workshop next Saturday. This will be at Busy Bees in Newport. We always have a good time there, and I’m really looking forward to it. Are you coming? Make sure you bring plenty of gripseal bags – you might get carried away!
