Working in a series

Do you work in a series, or do you run from one idea to the next?  I’m not saying that one is right and the other is wrong, but there is a lot to be gained from working in a series.  Sometimes that series can continue for years, and a real artist will have no guilt from not ‘moving on’, because much is being absorbed and learnt during that time.

I recently came across this video.  The artist doesn’t work in textiles, but the explanation of his work is worth hearing. Maybe it will inspire you to keep going with something that excites you.  Let me know if it does.  I love comments, so please leave me some occasionally, I know I get lots of visitors…..

And if you are frustrated because you never reach perfection, maybe you should watch this one too.

Colour, glorious colour!

Is it difficult to add contrast to your work?  Is it essential to add contrast to your work?  This is something that I often address during workshops, and it’s surprising just how much difference it can make.  I’ve blogged here today with one of my samples, take a look and judge for yourself.

If you missed yesterday’s post and want a recipe for making your own Gesso you can find it here.
